Dr. Cedric Lewis
Dr. Cedric Lewis is a 1996 graduate of the Oregon Health Sciences University, where he received his doctorate in dental medicine. In his continuing education, he has completed courses in esthetics & implants, anesthesia & pain control, cosmetic dentistry & the diagnosis & treatment of TMJ (i.e. jaw pain) disorders. Dr. Lewis is a charter member of the prestigious Hawaii Terry Tanaka Dental Study Group for prosthodontics. Dr. Lewis is also a volunteer dentist for the Special Olympics Hawaii & the Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services, a health center where he started a dental mentorship program for disadvantaged kids. Dr. Lewis is one of 12 dentists in the country, & the only one from Hawaii, chosen by the American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership. In 2008 through 2015, Dr. Lewis was voted by his peers as one of Hawaii’s Best Dentists in Honolulu Magazine & voted best dentist in Honolulu Magazine from 2003–2021. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristin, his son, Cole, & his two Pomeranians, Pooh Bear & Snoopy.
Dr. David Chun
Dr. David Chun received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry & his bachelor’s degree in neurobiology from the prestigious University of California, Berkeley. He continues to stay up to date with the latest in dental procedures, technology & medicines to provide the best care for his patients.
Dr. Chun is an experienced dentist whose practice philosophy focuses on patient comfort. He believes that the dental experience is much better for patients when their anxiety is lower & strives to create a comfortable environment for each visit.
While Dr. Chun is new to Oahu, he has practiced for many years in Oklahoma & Saipan. He has also gone on mission trips to Honduras, Bangladesh & the Dominican Republic, as well as provided dental services locally as a volunteer. Aside from dentistry, he enjoys hanging out with his wife & their small dog, often hiking & traveling locally or far away. He is a huge fan of basketball, football, the Golden State Warriors, the San Francisco 49ers & the California Golden Bears. He’s excited to be a part of the Wai’alae Dental Care family.
Dr. Jui-Yu Belle Chen
Dr. Jui-Yu (Pronounced: “Ray-Yu”) Belle Chen was born & raised in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She then received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with honors in Dentistry for the Medically Complex & honors in Community Oral Health. She was also awarded the American Academy of Oral Medicine Certificate of Merit & Award in Oral Medicine for her proficiency in the field of oral medicine. After dental school, Dr. Belle continued her dental training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, studying advanced hospital-based training in restorative, cosmetic, endodontic, surgical implant & emergency dentistry.
Dr. Belle likes to take her time to listen to her patients’ concerns & to work with her patients to improve oral health together. For Dr. Belle, the most rewarding thing about dentistry is being able to help her patients improve their self-confidence with the care she provides. A beautiful smile transcends all languages & it’s the prettiest thing one can wear. Dr. Belle is excited to be part of the Wai’alae Dental Care family & provide care to the people in Hawaii.
Dr. Belle is fluent in Mandarin Chinese & has practiced in New Jersey for many years before moving to Oahu to be closer to her family who live in Asia. When Dr. Belle is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Hans, a pediatric dentist, their daughter Oriana & their Shiba Inu Hanji.
Dr. Spencer Schiappa
Dr. Spencer Schiappa hails from Massapequa, New York, a New York City suburb located on the south shore of Long Island. Dr. Schiappa earned his Bachelor of Science from The University of Miami, where he studied Neuroscience & Chemistry & became a diehard fan of the Miami Hurricanes. After his time in South Florida, Dr. Schiappa completed his education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Schiappa believes in the importance of service to one’s community. An Eagle Scout & lifetime member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Dr. Schiappa takes pride in the places he has lived & the opportunities he has been given to serve them over the years. He is excited to now be able to serve the people of Oahu.
Dr. Schiappa credits his parents, Barbara & David Schiappa, for making him the man he is today. A microbiologist & a mechanical engineer, respectively, they instilled in him from a young age his love of science, the arts & the outdoors, as well as the work ethic which made it possible for him to become a dentist. He strives each day to make them proud.
When he is not in the office, Dr. Schiappa can be found in the water, on the trails or at the gym. He enjoys physical fitness & loves to be out in nature, where he finds solace amongst the many natural wonders Hawaii has to offer. Dr. Schiappa also enjoys photography, practices yoga & mindfulness meditation, & plays the piano.
