Dr. Cedric Lewis

Dr. Cedric Lewis is a 1996 graduate of the Oregon Health Sciences University, where he received his doctorate in dental medicine. In his continuing education, he has completed courses in esthetics & implants, anesthesia & pain control, cosmetic dentistry, & the diagnosis & treatment of TMJ (i.e. jaw pain) disorders. Dr. Lewis is a charter member of the prestigious Hawaii Terry Tanaka Dental Study Group for prosthodontics. Dr. Lewis is also a volunteer dentist for the Special Olympics Hawaii & the Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services, a health center where he started a dental mentorship program for disadvantaged kids. Dr. Lewis is one of 12 dentists in the country, & the only one from Hawaii, chosen by the American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership. In 2008 through 2015, Dr. Lewis was voted by his peers as one of Hawaii’s Best Dentists in Honolulu Magazine & voted as one of Honolulu’s best dentists from 2003–2018. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristin, his son, Cole, & his two Pomeranians, Pooh Bear & Snoopy.

Dr. Alexander Tarasov

Dr. Alexander Tarasov was born is St. Petersburg, Russia. He received his dental degree from Boston University & completed one year of advanced education in general dentistry at the University of the Pacific. After practicing as an associate general dentist in a private office in Cambridge (Mass) Dr. Tarasov was accepted to a three-year specialty program at John D. Dingell VA Medical center. Upon completion of the residency he moved to Oahu, where he works as a staff prosthodontist at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii & provides care to patients of Kahala area at Wai‘alae Dental Care.

Dr. Andy Lee

Dr. Andy Lee was born & raised in Los Angeles, California. His family has a background in healthcare & he decided to pursue dentistry. He received his dental degree at Loma Linda University. He has worked in southern California & most recently spent several years in Texas. Dr. Lee has provided dental care as a volunteer on international mission trips to Ethiopia & Romania. Closer to home he has volunteered in communities in Loma Linda, CA, San Antonio, TX, & for a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Dr. Lee continuously strives to learn & improve his skills through continuing education so he can provide the best care possible. It is his desire to provide simple, effective, & comfortable dental care. He enjoys spending his time traveling, hiking & swimming.

Dr. Radhika Patel

Dr. Radhika Patel was born in New York, but spent most of her childhood in southern Ohio so you may catch her humming to country music, saying “y’all, or wearing cowboy boots. She received her bachelors degree from Case Western Reserve University in biology & anthropology. She then received dual degrees, both her dental degree & a masters in public health from the University of Pittsburgh School. After dental school Dr. Patel moved to Washington DC where she practiced & furthered her love for dentistry. To continue her exciting journey, her husband, Doug, received orders to move to Hawaii & she couldn’t be more thrilled to be this exploring this part of the country. In her free time, she loves to hike, play tennis, & spend time with her husband & two dogs, Spartacus & Emma.

Dr. Darren Wong

Dr. Darren WongDr. Darren D.K. Wong has deep local ties here on Oahu. Growing-up in Nuuanu, he attended Nuuanu Elementary, Kawananakoa Intermediate & Roosevelt High School. After high school, he matriculated to the University of Hawaii, majoring in Finance. Dentistry was a second career for Dr. Wong. Initially, he worked five years for Bank of Hawaii & The Hawaiian Trust Company in their bond-trading departments. Although finance was fulfilling, he missed working with his hands & he decided to embark back to school at the University of California at San Francisco Dental School, graduating in 2001. Ever since, he has enjoyed the art & science of dentistry, but he ultimately values the connections with his patients most. Dr. Wong is a lifelong learner & has attended thousands of hours of continuing education courses specializing in cosmetic dentistry, implants, airway dentistry & orthodontics. He is married to his UCSF classmate, Dr. Amanda Wilson; they have two school-aged children, Evan & Olivia, who both attend ‘Iolani School. Dr. Wong likes to spend his free time cheering on his elite swimmers, cooking (especially sushi), surfing, & restoring old Japanese hot rod cars. He believes in always striving to achieve more balance in his life & in his practice of dentistry.

Dr. Simone Downs

Dr. Simone Downs was born Idar-Oberstein, Germany and grew up near Frankfurt. She received her dental degree in 2005 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. She has studied Smile Design and implant restoration. She is also Invisalign Certified. After dental school, she practiced at a community clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area before starting her private practice in Sonoma County. Dr. Downs is a member of the American Dental Association and state and local dentist societies. Dr. Downs and her husband enjoyed visiting Hawaii for many years and decided to make it their home. She loves to surf, play tennis and spend time with her husband, Bill, & her Old English Sheepdog, Henry. In her spare time, she also enjoys watching Seinfeld reruns and James Bond movies.

Dr. Melissa Liao

Dr. Melissa LiaoDr. Melissa Liao was born & raised in West Lafayette, Indiana. She spent her childhood in Taiwan & it was during that time she became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Her father, who was a dermatologist in Taiwan, was her inspiration in joining the healthcare field. In 2016, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Liao’s passion is in helping people & she has participated in international missionary trips & provided dental care to the people of Haiti & Honduras. Her love for water sports & lifestyle for the ocean brought her to Hawaii where she fell in love with the Aloha spirit. She has practiced as a general dentist for the past 3 years in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. She feels at home in Hawaii & looks forward to joining Wai’alae Dental Care where she strives for excellent dental care for the community.
